SAVE OUR SONS
The Save Our Sons initiative is designed to develop and enhance the lives of young men primarily in the Savannah community. It was established with an immediate emphasis to address low male achievement factors while linking these young men with role models who are able to help them in the process. This program is targeted for young boys between the ages of 10-17 who are high risk for drop out, involved in drugs or gang type activity. This is a referral based mentorship program.
Your donation will support Chatham Save Our Sons. The Save Our Sons Project (SOS) will provide cohorts of minority males within the Savannah area with targeted mentorship focused on developing character and leadership skills; as well as providing students with academic advocates who will support their educational aspirations. This project is geared for young boys who are at risk for drop out, live in one parent homesStudents will be exposed to college and career exploration experiences as well as additional extracurricular activities that will support their transition into manhood. The program seeks to improve attendance, academic performance, graduation rates and number of students transitioning into postsecondary education.
Funds will be used to:
Training sessions for mentors twice a month
Development of mentor curriculum
Provide tutoring resources for young men
Support extracurricular trips and experiences
